Speed Event

TARGETS: Steel Plates, four (4) knockdown plates and one (1) STOP plate.

 EQUIPMENT:

    GUNS; Any Centerfire pistol, 45 caliber or smaller

    SIGHTS; Any sights, except sights projecting an image on the target (Lasers) are prohibited.

 COURSE OF FIRE:

The five (5) target plates are spaced 3 feet apart at approximately 10 yards (NOTE: Cinder blocks are positioned in the ground to locate the plates) in a FAN arrangement to the left and right of the 3 ft. square firing boxes.  The STOP plate is the innermost plate of the fan.

An electronic timer shall be used to signal the starting time as well as recording the time of the last shot of each string.  Only one competitor fires at a time.  After completing the first string, the competitor switches sides and repeats the string.  This will be done three (3) times for a total of six (6) scores.

The competitors fire a MAXIMUM of six (6) shots per string.  There is no time limit, the STOP plate stops the clock.

 SCORING: The total of the five (5) fastest strings out of the six (6) count for the shooter’s score.  Additional time penalties are added as follows;

            Missed plates get a 5 second penalty.

            Missing the STOP plate gets a 20 second penalty.

            Hitting the STOP plate before all targets are down gets a 20 second penalty.

Ties are broken by a head-to-head shoot off.
