About the Club
The Club was formed on June 14, 1982 in White Stone. The club operates a shooting range on its own land located just outside the White Stone corporate limits. The range includes 100-yard, 50-yard, and 25-yard rifle and pistol ranges, and a shotgun range. Access to the range is controlled electronically. The Club has and continues to be focused on improving the range facilities for members shooting enjoyment, and exercising careful stewardship of the environment.
A principal purpose of Rappahannock Pistol
and Rifle Club is to provide its members and their guests a safe and
convenient place to shoot. Of equal importance is promotion within the
community of safe, responsible gun ownership and shooting sports. RP&RC
also schedules friendly competitions for members, including high power
and small bore rifle, pistol
and shotgun events.
A number of members have qualified as
certified NRA firearms instructors, and the club offers regular
instruction for adults in the community on safe firearm handling and
operation.
The Club is affiliated with the National Rifle
Association (NRA), the Virginia Shooting Sports Association (VSSA), and
the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).
The Club also makes
its range available to local law enforcement authorities for training
purposes.
The following projects have been partially funded by grants from the NRA:
-
Safety brow on the 25 yard range.
-
Electronic access to the range.
