PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME classes

The Club will conduct  NRA Personal Protection in the Home courses throughout the year and the schedule is shown on the calendar.

NRA certified instructors will teach the basics of a total personal protection approach for the home including how to effectively incorporate firearms into strategies for home security.  The course is designed to convey a comprehensive understanding of the considerations involved in implementing the methods and techniques leading to improved security for the home.

The course is the NRA response to the American public’s desire for an orientation that security conscious homeowners can utilize to make their residences less vulnerable to burglars, home invaders and other criminals.  Additionally, the course will develop the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and effective use of a firearm for the protection of self and family in the home.  Information on the legal aspects of the law-abiding citizen's right to self-defense will be presented by a law enforcement official or other legal authority.

The course is broken down into two, four hour sessions. The first four hours is classroom work.  The second session is held at the club range near White Stone and, under the supervision of the NRA instructors, will put into practice the classroom topics involving firearm self-defense within the home.

Enrollment in the course requires participants to have a thorough understanding of firearm safety and handling skills.  A pre-enrollment assessment of an individual's firearm qualifications is required.
